What we collect

If you just browse. You can open the map and venue pages without an account. Our host (Vercel) and database (Supabase) see standard request logs (IP, browser, pages). We use PostHog to understand how the map and add-a-spot flow are used (page views and the named product events). No ads. No selling.

If you sign in. Sign-in is Google only. Google sends us your name, email address, and a unique Google account id. We store those on your DryBanter profile. We do not get your Google password.

If you add a spot, vote, or report. We store the venue you picked (from Google Places: name, address, coordinates, Place ID), your photo of the NA menu (if you took one), drink and vibe tags, optional price and standout drink, your Worth it / Skip vote, and any report you file. Menu photos are stored in Supabase Storage. We strip EXIF (including GPS) on upload.

If you subscribe. The newsletter is Beehiiv. Your email goes to Beehiiv so we can send one short email a week. You can unsubscribe from any issue or the manage link on your profile.

Your name on a listing. Profile has an optional display name and a toggle, “Credit me on spots I add,” which is off unless you turn it on. Only then does a venue page show “First mapped by {name}.” Turning it off hides the byline.

Location. The map and Add a Spot may ask the browser for your location so we can center the map and suggest nearby places. That happens on your device. We do not keep a location history. Venue pins store the bar’s address from Google Places, not your phone’s GPS.

How we use it

To run DryBanter: show the map, publish community listings, count votes, handle reports, send the newsletter if you asked, and keep the product from being abused (rate limits, spam, fake listings).

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show third-party ads.

Who else sees it

Public. Venue pages, photos, tags, vote counts, and (only if you opted in) your display name as “First mapped by.” Email addresses are never public.

Processors we use to operate the site.

  • Google — sign-in, Maps, and Places
  • Supabase — database, auth, and photo storage
  • Vercel — hosting
  • Beehiiv — newsletter, if you subscribe
  • PostHog — product analytics (page views and named events)
  • Sentry — error monitoring, only if a DSN is configured (no session replay)

They process data to provide those services. They are not allowed to use it to market their own products to you through us.

How long we keep it

Listings, photos, votes, and reports stay until you ask us to remove them or we take a listing down (spam, abuse, or the bar no longer offers NA drinks). You can sign out anytime. To delete your account and personal data, email hello@drybanter.com from the address on the account. We will delete or de-identify what we reasonably can. Public takes you posted may remain as anonymous community content (the pin stays; your name comes off).

Kids

DryBanter is not directed at children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a material way, we will update this page and the date at the top.
